Volunteers help our students soar!

Ready to Become an R2L Volunteer?

Our volunteers come from a variety of experiences and backgrounds ranging from college students to corporate executives. Volunteers not only help children improve their reading comprehension skills, but also increase their confidence and nurture their love of reading.

You do not need prior teaching or tutoring experience to become a volunteer. Readers 2 Leaders provides all necessary training, as well as on-site support from our instructors and coaches

Group and Corporate Engagement

We are so grateful to the group and corporate volunteer groups who help our kids thrive.

Only 43 percent of Dallas third graders are reading on grade-level, and your corporation, faith community, college, or organization can be part of the urgent work to make literacy possible for kids.

There are several ways to get involved! Below are a few examples of our opportunities:

  • Visit our After-School Program: Read with students, engage in hands-on activities (4-10 volunteers, 3:30-5:30pm, Mondays-Thursdays).

  • Sponsor a Saturday Storytime Program: Sponsor food, crafts and activities with West Dallas families (8-12 volunteers, 10:30am-1:20pm, 2-4 Saturdays per year available, $1,500 sponsorship contribution required).

  • Teacher Appreciation: At key times in the school year, help us provide a little extra care to the 150 teachers we partner with at schools. Sponsor appreciation gift bags for $1,500.

Email development@readers2leaders.org for more information about any of our opportunities.
