Your Team Can Help Young Readers at R2L!
We are so grateful to the corporate groups who help our kids thrive. Only 40 percent of Dallas third graders are reading on a college-ready pace, and you can be part of the urgent work to make literacy possible for kids.
There are a few ways to get involved! Email email@example.com for more information about any of the following opportunities.
Visit Team Read After-School: A group of 5-15 volunteers can join our after-school students to read with students or help with a hands-on activity! Our children love meeting new grown ups who have different professions and perspectives. Opportunities available Monday-Thursday from 3:30-5:30.
Become a Reading Buddy: Individuals from your team can sign up to be Reading Buddies. This is a weekly commitment of 30-90 minutes, with opportunities available from 9 am to 5:30 pm during Team Read In-School and After-School. We also count on Reading Buddies during Team Read Summer Camp. Two individuals may also share one spot. Learn more here.
Sponsor our programs:
Sponsor Saturday Storytime: Join us for a special morning with West Dallas families during this quarterly program. We request sponsors provide 10-20 volunteers and a sponsorship of $1,000 to cover the costs of the event.
Sponsor a Team Read Summer Camp field trip: Field trips are a fun and educational component of our annual summer camp program. We seek sponsors to provide funding and volunteers for 90 students to attend an all-day field trip. In the past we've gone to the aquarium, the UT Arlington Planetarium and much more. Sponsorship for one field trip is $1,500, and we invite 6-15 volunteers to join the trip (optional).
Sponsor Lanes 2 Literacy, our annual fundraiser: Spread that word that your company cares about community literacy by sponsoring a bowling team at Lanes 2 Literacy! This annual spring event is a great opportunity to give your employees a fun night out while supporting a great cause.
Pro-bono consulting: Assist R2L with pro-bono consulting on specific projects related to capacity-building, marketing, or other crucial operational functions.
Donate books: Hold a book drive for Readers 2 Leaders. Find a list of new books identified by our teaching staff here. We also accept gently used picture books and early chapter books.
Bring R2L to you: Invite R2L staff to visit with your team about the early literacy crisis in Dallas and share ways that employees can get involved with R2L's mission at a time and location that is convenient for you. We can also bring a hands-on volunteer project to a team building event or other activity.
Designate R2L as a recipient of funds through United Way of Metropolitan Dallas: If your place of business conducts a United Way campaign, R2L can be a designee for funds to support our tutoring programs.
Share corporate foundation and other funding opportunities: If your company has a foundation or other giving program, we would love to learn more! Contact our development office.
